Transfer deal hijack as Chelsea stopped star player medical tests

Chelsea have reportedly put themselves in the mix to complete a late transfer hijack.

The Blues have looked to complete a large amount of their business in the first few weeks of the window, in order to give adequate backing to new manager Enzo Maresca.

It has so far been unclear just how much of a say the new boss has over those who come into the club ahead of next season.

While it was claimed that he is one of those at the club who was keen to bring in Marc Guiu from Barcelona, with his medical just being completed.

However, there is one signing Chelsea can make which will show they have 100% backing of him, and that is Leicester City man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Chelsea get Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to delay his medical at Brighton

Despite the fact it looked as if a move to Brighton was on the cards, journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk has stated that the Blues have been on the phone to delay that deal.

He said: “Moder at medical tests in Leicester. Dewsbury-Hall on medical trials in Brighton. And Chelsea calls to get KDH out!

“Even if Maresca takes over his former midfielder, Moder’s transfer is still possible.”

It has been claimed that the midfielder would only consider a move to Stamford Bridge if he was to leave Leicester this summer.

It remains to be seen though if the Blues believe another midfield signing is actually what they need, after spending plenty of money on that role in the last 18 months.

They smashed their transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in consecutive transfer windows, and they have also got Romeo Lavia who will hopefully be fit enough to feature in the long term this season.

While Conor Gallagher is reportedly up for sale at the right price, it still looks as if he will begin the upcoming campaign at Stamford Bridge.
