Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is set to overhaul his lineup for the upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Blues come into the match after a mixed week, with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Newcastle in the league, followed by a 2-0 exit from the EFL Cup at the hands of Eddie Howe’s squad.
Maresca opted for a secondary lineup in the Cup match but is expected to field his top players for the critical league encounter.
Jadon Sancho and Omari Kellyman will be unavailable for selection, as Sancho is ineligible to play against his parent club, and Kellyman remains sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
Pedro Neto is expected to take up a spot on the left flank, with Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke likely to round out Chelsea's primary offensive lineup.
Enzo Fernandez, who faced criticism after the midweek performance, may make way for Romeo Lavia in Sunday’s game.
Moises Caicedo is also expected to return to the starting lineup.
The team’s captain, Reece James, has been finding his rhythm since his recent recovery from a hamstring injury, and he is set to take up his usual spot in defense alongside Malo Gusto
In defense, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana are expected to replace Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, who struggled against Newcastle.
Colwill and Fofana will aim to provide stability in the backline, shielding goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Chelsea’s preferred choice in goal for this matchup.
