Enzo Maresca will be sweating on the fitness of a number of his Chelsea players at the backend of the third international break of the season.

With the quality of the first team squad at Stamford Bridge, it is perhaps no surprise that a fair amount of them were called up to their respective nations for international duty.

Some players have performed better than others so far, with Noni Madueke impressing Chelsea fans with his performance for England last week.

Chelsea will be fuming that Romeo Lavia was forced to withdraw from international duty due to an injury, after they had been managing his return from a long-term absence very well.

One player who did not travel to represent his country is Jadon Sancho, who is looking to break back into the Three Lions side under Thomas Tuchel in the new year.

He had actually been missing for a number of games before the break due to a combination of illness and injury, although Maresca did state at a point Sancho was dropped for tactical reasons.

This time on the sidelines looks as if it has come to an end though. Pictures on the club’s 5th Stand App have shown the Manchester United loanee in first team training with his teammates.

It has been a very promising spell at Stamford Bridge so far for the winger. Darren Bent described Sancho as ‘brilliant’ earlier this season.

Competition for wide places at Chelsea

It remains to be seen if he can break back into the starting side straight away, after a number of the wide players have staked their claim in recent weeks that they should be featuring more regularly.

Pedro Neto was the star of the show against Arsenal, and his ability to feature on either side makes him a very attractive prospect for the manager.

Mykhailo Mudryk is also improving every week this season, and he will be feeling he is due a start in the Premier League soon.
