Antonio Rudiger speaks on his Chelsea contract renewal

Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger says his future at Stamford Bridge is very much in the hands of the club.

The German international’s contract expires at the end of June, and the defender has reiterated his desire to remain with the team but only if he can find an agreement with the Blues:

“I feel great here, I have always said it. I think the way I play you can see that I’m happy here. But there are also other people who have to make decisions.”

Numerous reports have claimed that Rudiger is demanding £225,000 a week (£11.7m a year) to stay at Chelsea but, so far, the European and World champions have not come close to that figure.

The London club have offered to give the 28-year-old a substantial rise on his current £90,000 a week salary, but they haven’t been able to match the demands of the player so far.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has not hidden his desire to keep Rudiger, and the player has made it clear he wants to continue his career with the Blues, but there is still no deal on the table.

Clubs such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and even Tottenham have been mentioned as potential destinations for the 28-year-old if he does move on at the end of the season.
