In yesterday’s match up between Arsenal and West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium, a decision was made by the referee that should have been reviewed by the video assistant referee. It was a tough first half for both teams as they didn’t take it easy on themselves. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka was fouled in the penalty area but the referee overlooked and just let play go on.
Bukayo Saka made it past West Ham’s defense and created space to shoot but Arthur Masuaku was there to stop in. In attempt to stop him, Arthur Masuaku tripped Bukayo Saka and he missed his shot. It was a foul that the referee ought not to overlooked, Bukayo Saka might have kicked Arthur Masuaku’s calf but he made him do it on purpose. The VAR should have intervene and take a thorough look at the attempt.
Mikel Arteta was not in anyway pleased with the referee’s as he believed that the VAR would have awarded a penalty for the foul committed.
This would have made Arsenal be in the lead if VAR had awarded a penalty.
