Chelsea’s engine room may reportedly not be back from his injury problem for some time.
It sounds like the £30million midfielder could be out for several more weeks still, which would be disappointing news for Blues supporters.
The 31-year-old star hasn’t played since August due to his hamstring injury, something which is becoming a regular problem.
Chelsea did confirm earlier this week that the Frenchman’s returned to “part training” with them. There’s no timeframe on when he could return to action, though.
N’Golo Kante injury
According to The Sun, Kante is “some way off” actually getting back on the pitch to play games for Chelsea.
It is understood that Graham Potter is planning for the Blues to be careful with the central midfielder during his return to fitness because of his repeated injury problems.
The report adds the club are still optimistic he’ll be fit to play for France in the World Cup that starts in November.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that Potter has always been a big fan of Kante from afar, so it must be a frustrating wait to work with him properly.
However, he’s got enough alternative options in the midfield to rely on during a hectic schedule.
There should be plenty of opportunities for the club’s midfielders to play given there are nine Blues fixtures in total during October.
Conor Gallagher, 22, is one Blues central midfielder you feel can go close to matching Kante’s energy on a football pitch. However, he needs a lift after a slow start to the campaign.
