Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has been dropped by France for their international fixtures this month.
Axel Disasi, 25, was part of the French squad for September’s international break.
However, the Chelsea centre-back has been omitted for France’s games in October versus the Netherlands and Scotland.
Les Blues confirmed their squad announcement on X this afternoon.
Disasi, who’s got four senior caps for France, should consider himself unlucky to be dropped by his country right now. Admittedly, the French have such a great pool of talent available to them in defence.
For Chelsea, Disasi has continued a really consistent start to his Blues career.
The centre-back’s quickly established himself as a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up, playing every single minute so far.
There’s nothing too flashy about his game and he doesn’t take unnecessary risks, so he’s been a really solid addition to the backline at Stamford Bridge so far this term.
Disasi is turning out to be a great £39million investment (Sky Sports) from Chelsea.
From a selfish point of view, the club may be happy one of their main starters will avoid the risk of injury during the international break and be fresh to go in the Premier League games immediately after.
If the centre-half keeps performing this consistently, we suspect a recall for France may still be on the horizon.
