Chelsea agreed £30m fee to sign number 9 shirt holder, Dusan Vlahovic

Transfer news: Chelsea set £67m deal for Vlahovic,  Chalobah, Caicedo transfer

Chelsea and Juventus have now agreed a fee for Dusan Vlahovic – with Romelu Lukaku moving to the Allianz Stadium as part of the deal.

That is according to Calcio Mercato.

So, what is the latest on Dusan Vlahovic and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?
Well, Chelsea and Juventus have been in discussions about a player-plus-cash deal for a number of weeks now.

A story from Corriere dello Sport claimed that Chelsea offered £17m and Lukaku for Vlahovic, which was rejected by Juventus.

Now – according to Calcio Mercato – the Blues and the Old Lady have agreed a €35m (£30m) fee for the Serbia international.

However, the Italian news outlet mention that there is still a lot of work to be done, as Lukaku and Vlahovic must agree personal terms with Juventus and Chelsea respectively.

A story from Gazzetta dello Sport interestingly added that the Juventus No.9 does not rate Mauricio Pochettino as a coach either, so the 23-year-old may need to be convinced about the move.

Vlahovic scored 14 goals in 42 appearances last season, but also missed 18 games due to injury problems – something that might worry Chelsea fans if a deal does get done.

Chelsea need Vlahovic

While there is a long way to go in this transfer saga, Chelsea do need Vlahovic signed fairly quickly after losing Christopher Nkunku to a knee injury.

The France international must undergo surgery after suffering damage to his meniscus in the 2-0 win against Fulham out in the United States.

Nkunku is facing four months on the sidelines, and Pochettino cannot afford to enter the 2023/24 campaign relying solely on Nicolas Jackson, as promisingly as the Senegal international has performed in pre-season.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea make progress on a deal for Vlahovic – who has been described as an “extraordinary” striker by Dragan Stojkovic.
