Chelsea are already considering January move for £55m striker likened to Haaland

Chelsea are already looking at RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as a possible target for the next transfer window.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Speaking on his podcast via his Substack, Phillips explained that Chelsea have already started shortlisting centre-forwards that they may want to sign as they aim to bring another No 9 to Stamford Bridge.

Apparently, Benjamin Sesko is someone on the Blues radar.

Simon Phillips explains that Sesko is a long-term Chelsea target and already in their thoughts ahead of the January window.

He said: “Chelsea want to bring a striker in. They want to bring a striker in January. They’re working on that straightaway now.

“As I reported on here, the priority is Ivan Toney. Chelsea would like to try and do a pre-deal to get him in January. The trouble is a lot of other clubs are trying to do the same thing and also want him as well.

“Chelsea have other options. A few names that Chelsea are looking at is Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. He’s been on their radar for quite a long time.”

Leipzig paid £55million (Daily Mail) to sign Sesko, one of the most exciting young strikers in the world right now.

The 20-year-old has started the new season with two goals in his opening two Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig. He had previous success in Austria with their sister club Red Bull Salzburg, too.

Interestingly, the youngster previously explained that he’s drawn comparisons with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who’s viewed by many as the world’s elite frontman right now.

Sesko said, as quoted by The Chronicle: “My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!”
