Chelsea complete first summer double signing of world-class players medical after take-over

Chelsea splash £68m for high-rated Nigeria striker as he arrives London to undergo medical on his possible move to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea could get the chance to sign long-term target Kalidou Koulibaly during the upcoming transfer window.

The Senegal international has been one of Serie A’s best-performing central defenders over the past eight years.

However, there is the possibility that he could leave this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has opened the door for his exit, and he could be available for a knockdown fee.

Koulibaly was valued at £80 million in the past, but the 30-year-old could be prised away for just £30m this summer.

His agent has already communicated with several clubs including Chelsea, who attempted to sign him in 2016.

The Blues have since been linked with him on numerous occasions, and could now make another approach.

The west London giants are expected to lose the services of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer.

Sevilla’s Jules Kounde has been targeted as a possible replacement, and Koulibaly could also be in the running.

AFC handed big injury boost for Everton game

Arsenal have been handed a big injury boost with midfielder Thomas Partey returning to first-team training.

The Ghanaian sustained a thigh injury shortly after the last international break, and his absence has been felt.

The Gunners have lost four games without him since April, and things could have been different if he was fit.

A top four spot is now unlikely unless Spurs lose to Norwich City, but the Gunners will want to end on a high note.

They are scheduled to host Everton in the final game of the Premier League season tomorrow. Partey may feature.

The midfielder has participated in the last two full training sessions, and could make his return off the bench.

Arsenal can end the season with 69 points on the board which is an improvement on last season’s tally of 61.

They finished eighth in the standings last term, but are now assured to finish at least fifth regardless of a defeat.
