Chelsea fans were rubbing their eyes when they finally saw their side score on Saturday.
The West London side hosted Leeds United as the Yorkshire side fight for their lives in the Premier League and the home fans were elated as they finally scored a goal as they approached a month without a goal in all competitions.
As the side went into halftime scoreless against Leeds, fans didn’t hold back as they viciously booed the former Brighton boss.
With pressure mounting on Graham Potter, the Englishman struggled to hide his jubilation when Wesley Fofana powered home to open the scoring 52 minutes in. Despite Leeds fighting to stay in the division and recently replacing manager Jesse Marsch with Javi Gracia, the home side couldn’t score more than the one at Stamford Bridge.
Fans who didn’t make the trip to the ground made their feelings known on Twitter. @IbzSpeaks wrote: “Glad we won but Graham Potter still needs to go.”
One Chelsea fan really went in on Potter. @superiorCFC tweeted: “Some of you lot seem to like pretending that you don’t have a brain. Graham Potter HAS to be sacked if this football club stands for ANYTHING.
“His career has been nothing but a failure and Chelsea’s no exception. Buckle up cause it’s gonna be a painful thread of cold hard facts.”
However, not all fans want the manager to leave. @AmandePete said: “Full-time Win! Great goal from Big Wes as Graham Potter succeeds in extending his stay at the club, the backing continues.”
