Chelsea: James’ Injury Report, Chalobah’s Golden Chance, and Azpilicueta’s Contract Talks

“The injury to Reece James is definitely a stumble in Chelsea’s hopes of finishing in the top four. It was only recently when the 23 year old returned back to training, now he will be out for three weeks at least. The test have not been concluded but there is very little hope that he will be in the next Chelsea match,” predicted Ian Wright.

Now that Reece James will be out for a while, fans are expecting Trevoh Chalobah to start in that right back role once more. This season has been very difficult for the 23 year old to cement his berth in the starting eleven. But now that he has proven to be a versatile asset for the club, the next fixtures are going to be very crucial for him to prove his worth in the squad.

My opinion
Cesar Azpilicueta is currently in deep talks with Chelsea representatives over a new contract. The current one expires at the end of the season, not to mention that Barcelona are still intent on signing him on a permanent deal. The skipper however wants to further prolong his stay at the club so that he can cover up Reece James until a worthy replacement is signed.

Ruben Loftus Cheek is most likely to leave Chelsea at the end of the season. His agent has apparently been in talks with Newcastle representatives but nothing concrete has come of it. It seems that the midfielder has made up his mind about joining another club next season.
