Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo took no part in Chelsea’s first-team training session on Thursday.

The Blues confirmed on their official website today that several star names trained at Cobham today with the rest of the squad as they returned after the international break.

However, there’s a couple of notable absentees just days out from Sunday’s Premier League fixture away to Bournemouth.

Chelsea provided the update this afternoon that first-team duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are both late back from their nations. This is because they’ve both come from South America and had to travel much further than the international stars in Europe.

The club posted: “The international action came to an end on Tuesday evening, although the time difference and travelling required means South Americans Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are not back with the group yet.”

The fact that Chelsea don’t play until Sunday afternoon should work in the favour of Fernandez and Caicedo, who’ve ben away with Argentina and Ecuador, respectively. We still expect both midfielders to be starting for the league trip to Bournemouth.

Fernandez and Caicedo will surely both be part of any Chelsea line-up going forward. It’s just up to Mauricio Pochettino now to work out the best way to use them.

Fernandez, 22, looks very comfortable right now as a standout individual in the Blues XI. Incidentally, Paul Merson recently said the Argentine playmaker is Chelsea’s best player by a mile right now, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Caicedo will hope to start showing the supporters what he’s all about. The summer signings is yet to really prov why he’s been rating as one of the division’s elite defensive midfielders recently.
