Chelsea made fresh bid for Antoine Griezmann

There have been transfer rumour linking Chelsea to Antoine Griezmann all the way back to 2015 on this website, and likely even earlier than that in other places.

In that time the Frenchman has moved clubs a few times, but Chelsea have never got the deal done. Looking back, that must be a real regret. He’s been a consistently brilliant player for club and country, and when you consider he would have cost us something like £25m to buy, it’s hard to think of a star who would have improved us more in the period since his breakout season with Real Sociedad.

There will be other Griezmanns, and next time, Chelsea have to do a better job on snapping them up. While he was moving on the cheap, we were wasting big money on strikers who didn’t score. Griezmann not only gets goals, he does everything else too, as we’ve seen in his impressive showings at the World Cup with France.
