Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer window.
CHELSEA have done some decent business this transfer window – but have not signed all the players that fans were expecting to see arrive this summer.
There is still plenty of time for Mauricio Pochettino to add a few more players to the side – especially as a new defender, midfielder and striker are all still on the agenda for the Argentine boss.
But it seems that they have made a decision about signing the impressive Paulhinha – who had a very good season with Fulham last year and has caught the attentions of a lot of big clubs.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
talkSPORT understands the Blues’ were presented with Palhinha as a possible alternative to top target Moises Caicedo, who they are struggling to agree a deal for simply because of his massive asking price.
But having recently turned 28, the former Sporting Lisbon ace does not match the age profile of Chelsea’s recruitment team.
The average age of Chelsea’s starting XI for Mauricio Pochettino’s first game in charge, the 5-0 friendly win over Wrexham, was less than 21.
WOULD PAULHINHA BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR CHELSEA?
Paulhinha had a very good season with Fulham and would be a very good squad member at CHELSEA – but the Blues have a plan and he would not be part of it.
However – it is great having an exciting young team – but experience will help the club to success – you cannot win things with a young squad.
The transfer window is open for a few more weeks and we fully expect Chelsea to get their business done – we are just not sure that fans should get too excited about the upcoming season.
The players that have been signed will need time to adapt and some of the players that have been sold will be missed –
