Chelsea receive huge cash to top-up Moises Caicedo transfer deal

Official Done Deals: Moises Caicedo, Madueke to Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern and other transfer news

Chelsea are now set to use the money received from Tino Livramento joining Newcastle to make another push for Moises Caicedo.

That is according to El Universo.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea and Moises Caicedo after Tino Livramento moved to Newcastle? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?
Well, Newcastle recently agreed a £35m deal with Southampton to sign Livramento, who Chelsea sold to the Saints for just £5m in August 2021.

While that might seem like a bit of an error on Chelsea’s behalf, the Blues smartly placed a hefty sell-on clause in the agreement, which Alex Crook of talkSPORT believes could even be worth 50%.

El Universo have backed up that claim.

That would – of course – entitle Chelsea to £17.5m of Southampton’s £35m, and the Blues now plan to spend that money on another bid for Caicedo.

El Universo believe the £17.5m cash injection will be used to make a new £90m bid for the Ecuador international, who is valued at £100m by Brighton.

Sadly, we can see this £90m offer being rejected by Brighton.

The Seagulls are usually fierce operators in the market, and it would not be a surprise if that offer was immediately rejected.

After all, Brighton have already rebuffed four bids from Chelsea for Caicedo this summer, which were worth £60m, £65m, £70m and then £80m – according to the hugely reliable David Ornstein.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have continuously referred Chelsea to the £100m asking price, which the Seagulls feel is a fair valuation after Declan Rice joined Arsenal for £105m.

Brighton are under no financial pressure and do not need to sell, so we strongly believe Chelsea need to ensure their next bid is worth £100m – if it’s anything under that amount, don’t be surprised if Brighton snub the Blues once again.
