Chelsea submit €35m bid for Serie A star player
Chelsea have reportedly offered Inter Milan €35m for wing-back this January transfer window, blues are still looking forward to sign another players before the deadline day.
The Blues have long-been linked with Dumfries as they search for competition at right-back or right wing-back for the perennially injured Reece James.
Dumfries, who moved to Inter from PSV Eindhoven for around €15m in the summer of 2021, has impressed in Serie A and for the Netherlands.
He’s also been linked with a move to Tottenham, with Antonio Conte thought to be a big admirer, as well as Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag looks to improve his right-back options.
According to Italian outlet La Repubblica, Chelsea have now made a €35m bid for the 26-year-old, though Inter are looking to hold out for a significantly higher offer.
The report claims that they are demanding at least €55m should a club wish to steal Dumfries away this month.
Last week, Dumfries’ agent refused to rule out the possibility of his client leaving Inter before the end of the window.
Rafaela Pimenta tolf RAI: “He’s an inter player now, and then we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Dumfries would be Chelsea’s sixth January signing were he to move to Stamford Bridge, after Mykhaylo Mudryk, David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Andrey Santos all joined permanently, while Joao Felix arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Madueke grew up in London and spent time in both the Tottenham and Crystal Palace academies before moving to PSV in 2018.
The England U21 international has 20 goals and 14 assists in 79 appearances for the Eredivisie side since breaking into the first team in 2020, playing predominantly on the right wing.
The Blues have reportedly been eyeing Madueke for some time and the Daily Mail reported last week that they had ‘stepped up their efforts’and made an opening bid of £26.5m for the 20-year-old.
That bid was turned down by the Dutch side but they are not against selling the 20-year-old should the Blues make an improved bid, despite already losing Cody Gakpo to Liverpool.
Dutch football reporter Marco Timmer told VI: “If Chelsea add some money, PSV will proceed to sell. (It depends) how deep the pockets of the new owner are.”
