Reports suggest that Chelsea are set to announce their sixth signing of the summer in the form of Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan.
According to The Evening Standard, the Blues are set to add him to their list of signings today, taking the total up to half a dozen.
The Blues have been one of the busier sides during this window, with them requiring major reinforcements in order to bridge the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool.
They have already added big names such as Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella to their ranks, with the three of them already looking like they’re going to impress.
The trio made their home debuts in last weekend’s pulsating draw with Tottenham, and they all contributed to a goal in one way or another, undoubtedly delighting their new supporters.
Chelsea set for sixth season
They have also invested in the youth, making a number of signings with an eye towards the future, which may have surprised some fans gicen the owners being new to the club this summer.
They have already added Carney Chukwuemeka to their ranks, with Thomas Tuchel impressed enough to keep him on as part of the first team this season.
They have also added highly-rated goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, with him being sent back on loan to Chicago Fire for the remainder of the MLS season.
Now, The Evening Standard has claimed signing number six is imminent, with Inter Milan’s Casadei in London for his medical.
While it is unclear whether he will be part of the first team straight away, he is an undoubted talent for the future, impressing with the Nerazzurri’s youth sides last season.
With a couple of midfield injuries already this season, his opportunity could come earlier than expected, with his position perfectly seen in Tuchel’s system used against Spurs.
