Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard spotted bantering with each other
Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard were spotted laughing together as Arsenal and Manchester City emerged from the tunnel for the second half.
The two know each other well from their time spent together in the Norwegian national side, but that didn’t stop fans from laying into both players, with some even urging fun-despising Roy Keane to give them a telling off.
“Somewhere in the world, Roy Keane is ripping up his sofa cushions after seeing that,” one fan tweeted in response to the clip.
“Why are Odegaard and Haaland having a giggle, this is war lads,” another posted, while a third user wrote: “Get a room Haaland and Odegaard.”
Another wrote: “Wonder what they were talking about? Managers will be fuming when they see that.”
Despite Haaland and Odegaard looking as cool as a couple of cucumbers, the atmosphere around the Emirates was electrifyingly tense.
Kevin De Bruyne initially gave City the lead after latching on to Takehiro Tomiyasu’s dreadful back pass to lob Aaron Ramsdale, but Bukayo Saka levelled from the spot shortly after when Eddie Nkentiah was clipped in the box by Ederson.
City re-took the lead mid-way through the second half via Jack Grealish, before Erling Haaland made it 3-1 with eight minutes to go.
A win would see City go above Arsenal in the league for the first time since November, though the Gunners still have a game in hand.
