Fan names only position Chelsea need to strengthen to compete for titles

Chelsea made a lot of new signings in January, landing young players as Todd Boehly is building for the future.

Now the squad is almost complete — a Blues fan nicknamed Vince thinks the club only needs a defensive midfielder to be able to compete for the Premier League title.

“Just buy a defensive-minded number 6, pair him with Enzo, play Felix as CAM (he’s a space master), with Mudryk on the left, Nkunku in the middle as a false 9 and Noni on the right. We will cook hard,” Vince tweeted.

“A DM who is positionally strong and can defend is a priority.

“A false 9 can definitely play with a CAM. False 9 in a dynamic position not static. If the CAM can also play as a forward, then they can swap positions and occupy different spaces.

“For me, football is about movements and use of space more than positions players occupy on paper.”

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Declan Rice who fits the bill. Speaking of a permanent signing of Joao Felix, it’s been reported that the Blues are optimistic about it.
