The Premier League giant, Chelsea Football Club took to their official social media handle to announce 23-years-old England International, Reece James as their new captain.
The Blues made the announcement on their Official Facebook page today being Wednesday the 9th day of August, 2023 and it stirred massive reactions from football fans across the globe with many taking to the comment section to congratulate him.
In the above photo, James could be clearly spotted wearing the Club’s armband after he was officially announced as the captain and he wore a lovely smile which gave him a completely different appearance.
Recall that few weeks ago, Azpilicueta left Stamford Bridge for Atletico Madrid after over 10 years at the club and that left the captaincy role open. Thiago Silva and Reece James were the two major contenders for the captaincy role and James have emerged as the favourite.
Reece James is considered as one of the finest Right Back in the English Premier League, known for his pace, brilliant passes and mouthwatering goals. He rose through the ranks at Stamford Bridge some couple of years back under Frank Lampard and ever since then, he has managed to cement his place as a regular starter for both club and country.
