I promise you, 200k-per-week star will shine at Chelsea – Terry reveals

John Terry choose Chelsea's next captain after Azpilicueta

John Terry has been speaking about Mauricio Pochettino after Chelsea suffered a poor start to the 2023/24 campaign.

The 42-year-old was speaking at a live event on Friday evening.

So, what did John Terry say about Mauricio Pochettino? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, things have not been easy for the Argentine at Stamford Bridge so far.

Pochettino has only overseen one win in four Premier League outings this season, which came against Luton Town, while suffering defeats to West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

Despite picking up just four points from a possible 12, Terry is backing the South American to make Chelsea a force once again.

The Chelsea legend was quoted by Simon Phillips as saying: “I love Poch, I’ve been around him and I promise you now he is a top, top manager. He will get us to the levels we need to be at.”

Clearly, Terry has a lot of faith in the £200,000-a-week tactician.

While the results aren’t great at the moment, Pochettino has definitely got Chelsea playing better football.

Chelsea were unlucky not to win against Liverpool, after seeing Ben Chilwell’s effort to make it 2-1 ruled out for offside.

Judging by the flow of the game, Chelsea also would have been likely to win against West Ham if Enzo Fernandez scored his penalty to put the Blues 2-1 up at the London Stadium.

The performances have been decent, but Chelsea are just not seeing the crucial moments go their way.

Nevertheless, Pochettino has proven himself capable of dragging an underperforming side to great heights like he did at Tottenham, taking the north Londoners to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019.

Hopefully, the 51-year-old can rebuild Chelsea into one of England’s most feared sides.
