Levi Colwill makes big Chelsea transfer decision

Chelsea have arguably completed their most important piece of business of the summer transfer window and they have new head coach Mauricio Pochettino to thank for that.

Levi Colwill has now agreed a new long-term contract extension with the Blues, as widely reported elsewhere. The 20-year-old is now set to put pen-to-paper on a six-year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029.

Brighton have been fighting to try and get Colwill back on a permanent basis after he massively impressed for the Seagulls last season on loan. During talks that were initially scheduled for Moises Caicedo, Brighton have been persistent in trying to get Colwill included in any deal, but Chelsea were having absolutely none of it.

The Blues have – and still do – viewed the England Under-21s international as untouchable this summer. Colwill has all the ingredients to become a world-class centre-back in the future and is well on his way to doing so. Chelsea were determined to keep hold of him this summer and it now looks like they have managed to do that.

Liverpool also came calling. And understands the Reds have enquired about Colwill on two separate occasions this summer to try and get any sort of encouragement from Chelsea before launching an official offer. Needless to say, though, they have not gotten that.

Colwill was biding his time with a decision over his future. After returning to pre-season late following his heroics with the England Under-21s in their European Championship triumph, the Cobham graduate then joined up with his teammates in the United States for their pre-season tour.

Mauricio Pochettino sent huge transfer demand as Chelsea continue Dusan Vlahovic talks

Juventus are interested in signing Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window. The Blues are negotiating a potential player plus cash swap deal that would see Juve striker Dusan Vlahovic make the move to Stamford Bridge – with Lukaku heading to Turin.

Vlahovic is open to leaving the Italian outfit this summer – just 18 months after signing for Juve from Fiorentina. The 23-year-old striker scored 14 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for the Juventus last term and is considered to be among the elite strikers in Europe.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign a new striker at Stamford Bridge despite already welcoming Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to the club this summer. The Blues have focused on selling many players this summer but Pochettino now wants to bring in reinforcements that will balance his squad ahead of the Premier League season opener against Liverpool.

Lukaku’s chances of a return to Inter Milan have vanished with Juventus now the only club pushing to sign the 30-year-old. However, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Juve are now demanding £50million in cash as part of the package that would see Vlahovic move to Stamford Bridge after just 18 months in Turin – with Lukaku heading to Italy.

Chelsea plot shock USMNT transfer after Moises Caicedo bid rejected

Chelsea are preparing for the very possible eventuality that Moises Caicedo does not join them this month after negotiations with Brighton continue to thwart attempts.

After four bids were rejected for the 21-year-old, the Blues are faced with the prospect of paying the £100million ($124million) valuation that is seen as too high. The latest offer, worth around £80million ($102million) was knocked back swiftly by the Seagulls and with just two weeks until the Premier League opener against Liverpool and one month of the window to go, life without Caicedo is looming.

Chelsea became clear favourites to sign him over the summer as Arsenal prioritised Declan Rice, Liverpool planned for Romeo Lavia and Manchester United went for Mason Mount. Progress with a deal has been hard to come by though, and alternatives are now being looked at.

Lesley Ugochukwu has agreed to join this summer for £23.5million ($30million) but may not be headed straight for the first team. “We need experience in midfield,” Mauricio Pochettino said after the 2-0 win over Fulham on Sunday.
