Mauricio Pochettino calls Romeo Lukaku into first team

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino calls on Lukaku returns

According to 90min, Chelsea are now considering reintegrating Romelu Lukaku into the first team, although Mauricio Pochettino is not a fan of the idea.

Throughout the summer, Chelsea have been trying to sell Romelu Lukaku. However, finding a buyer has proven to be a challenge.

Initially, Chelsea engaged in negotiations with Inter Milan for Lukaku’s return to the San Siro. However, talks fell apart when Inter became upset that Lukaku had also been in talks with Juventus.

Juventus continued discussions and seemed to be making progress on a swap deal involving Dusan Vlahovic. However, an anti-Lukaku campaign by fans caused complications.

Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Lukaku has rejected those offers. Surprisingly, 90min reports that Chelsea are now considering the option of retaining the Belgian international. However, for the Blues, Lukaku won’t be the best choice and Pochettino understands that.

Since his return in a £97.5 million transfer from Inter Milan, the Belgian has shown a lack of respect towards Chelsea. He openly expressed his affection for Inter and his wish to return there, even though he had just joined Chelsea.

Lukaku also chose not to participate in pre-season training this summer. Considering these actions, if Pochettino were to reintegrate the contentious striker into the first-team setup, it could send a negative message to the rest of the squad.
