Pochettino highlights three key goalkeepers should sign this summer

Chelsea’s plans for the summer transfer window have begun to emerge, but they will be determined by the view of likely incoming head coach Mauricio Pochettino, as per evening standard.
It’s going to be a busy summer at Stamford Bridge as they try to cut their bloated 31-man roster, which will be supplemented once Malo Gusto, Christopher Nkunku, and Andrey Santos arrive for pre-season.
Plans for next season are already in the works as they seek to fast forget the catastrophic 2022/23 campaign. Pochettino is expected to be chosen as the club’s next permanent head coach, and a management appointment is expected soon.
Chelsea will need to generate finances to comply with Financial Fair Play standards, and a massive revamp is expected in west London. Those futures will be decided by the club and Pochettino, who will have to decide who he wants to keep and who he is willing to let go.
Despite having a large squad and needing to cut it, Chelsea is still looking to acquire new players for next season.
Chelsea’s three transfer targets for the summer season have been disclosed, according to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard.
1. Andre Onana
It’s no secret that Chelsea has been on the hunt for a reliable number one goalkeeper. With the futures of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy in question, the club has turned their sights to other potential options, and one name that has emerged as a strong contender is Andre Onana of Inter Milan.
Onana, a Cameroon international, has been a standout player for the Italian club, showing incredible reflexes and strong command of his area. At just 27 years old, he also has plenty of room to develop and could potentially become a long-term solution for Chelsea’s goalkeeping needs.
2. Gregor Kobel
The German goalkeeper Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund has been identified as a possible addition to the team’s ranks.
Kobel is an impressive talent, having earned a reputation as one of the most promising goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. His exceptional reflexes and shot-stopping abilities have been on display week in and week out for Dortmund, and it’s no surprise that Chelsea is keen to secure his services.
Despite being just 25 years old, Kobel has already established himself as a top-flight goalkeeper. His performances for Stuttgart last season earned him a move to Dortmund, and he has continued to impress since joining the club.
3. David Raya
The name David Raya has been floating around as a potential option for the Blues. Raya, who currently plays for Brentford, has been impressive in his performances and could prove to be a valuable asset for the team.
Although not a household name like other potential goalkeeper options, such as Jan Oblak and Gianluigi Donnarumma, Raya has shown that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. His quick reflexes and shot-stopping ability have earned him recognition as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
