Sergino Dest is one of the players whose future is in doubt at Barcelona. The USMNT international had a somewhat decent year in his first season at Camp Nou. His second season has also been positive despite his inconsistency, but Xavi Hernandez hasn’t really shown signs that the full-back is in his plans.
As a result, Dest has been linked with a move away from Barcelona. Chelsea are among the top clubs that have shown interest in the 21-year old. But Dest has made a decision to stay at the Camp Nou and convince Xavi. This is according to a report from Cadena Sar via Barca Universal.
Chelsea are currently in need of a full-back due to Ben Chilwell’s long-term injury. The Blues have reportedly seen three bids rejected by Lyon to bring Emerson Palmieri back from his loan move. And Dest’s decision to remain at Barcelona could be another huge blow for Thomas Tuchel, who has the former Ajax player on his transfer list.
Dest will be hoping to prove himself under Xavi. The manager has preferred Dani Alves and Ronald Araujo at right back ahead of him. Yet, it is still possible for Barcelona to sell him in this transfer window, especially if he is not convincing enough on the pitch.
