Thierry Henry reacts as Potter makes Sterling sad in first game for Chelsea

Graham Potter takeover from Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea new coach

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has noted that Chelsea’s new manager, Graham Potter has started making some of the key players unhappy during his very first game in charge of the club.

According to Henry, Raheem Sterling was unhappy with Graham Potter’s decision to take him off the pitch in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea’s home draw has left them bottom of Group E with one point in two games.

Sterling scored Chelsea’s opener in the second half, but the Austrian champions ensured they left Stamford Bridge with a point with Noah Okafor capitalising on poor defending by the Premier League giants.

But Potter’s decision to substitute Sterling was questioned by Henry who pointed out that the England international could easily score another goal.

The 27-year-old looked less than impressed with Potter as he was replaced by Christian Pulisic with six minutes remaining as Chelsea pushed for the winner.

“We all noticed and we were like, ‘it’s early’ and everything,” Henry told CBS Sports about Potter’s decision to substitute Sterling.

“First and foremost, I don’t know why he took Sterling off because he scored and you know he could score another goal.

“It’ll be interesting to see how he’s going to deal with that tomorrow morning because he [Sterling] didn’t look happy.

“Maybe we’re going a bit too much into it, but when they showed him on the bench, I think I wouldn’t have liked to come out after [scoring] a goal, let’s see how he’s going to deal with that one.”
