What Pochettino said about Thiago Silva during training session at Cobham

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino is excited to have the Brazilian star, Thiago Silva on his side next season after most of the club top players left this summer.

According to him he said,

“I’m personally really glad that Thiago Silva is staying with us next season.

He’s one of the only really experienced players left and is going to be important in this transition again next season.

Obviously hope Fofana and Colwill/Badiashile are the two starters, but Thiago will give both valuable lessons and knowledge in training and on matchdays next year

That’s what you’re taught at centre-back.

Nothingham are defending deep/compact. Very little spaces between their defensive lines. Thiago is waiting for one of them to step. One of them nearly does, but stops otherwise the space is behind him between the midfield/defensive line.

You draw the attackers forward, which then creates space between the lines.

There’s phrase, “find the dope” , which is the person who steps out leaves space in behind.

Thiago waits for the dope to press so the space in vacated and players find pockets of space.

I don’t think one is better than the other, I’d say Colwill edges him on those lofted passes down the line but Badiashile is still amazing on the ball and breaks lines.

Both quick enough but not rapid, both very good in duels and 1v1 from what we’ve seen and both monsters in the air.”
