Worst VAR And Referee Decision Against Chelsea In The EPL This Season

Chelsea were up against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge in their matchday sixteen fixture. Graham Potter’s side were looking to get back into winning ways after being in a horrendous form before the international break. Following the match up at Stamford Bridge, there was a decision made by the referee against Christian Pulisic that I didn’t completely agree with.

In the opening minutes of the first half, Adam Smith pulled Christian Pulisic’s shirt while he was trying to get his shot away. The referee initially let play go on but after the video assistant referee reviewed the situation, the referee stood with his initial call. It wasn’t the best decision as Pulisic was clearly denied a goal scoring opportunity. What is the essence of VAR if they cannot give final decision to such controversial situation.

Chelsea would have been 3-0 up in the second half of the match after Christian Pulisic scored but the referee ruled the goal out after Kai Havertz committed a fouk at the edge of the penalty box. It wasn’t a foul on the defender as he clashed with Kai Havertz, the referee denied Christian Pulisic a penalty in the opening minutes of the first half and denied him a goal in the final minutes of the first half.
